Cold Sore vs Starting Fluid

Well it's time again for a huge cold sore to appear on my bottom lip. Boy how I love cold sores. Almost a much as I did when I had 4 teeth pulled before I had my braces put on. Any way I've lived with cold sores my whole life and it's not fun. Back when I was younger I would go over to my Grandparents house and my grandma would see that I had a cold sore and would then reach over on the counter and grab her can of starting fluid and tell me to come over to her. So I would and she would give me a shot of the stuff right on the cold sore. So I grew up my whole life thinking that spraying starting fluid in my face was no big deal. I don't know if it actually worked on the cold sore but my grandparents believed it did. So several years after I got married I was out helping my husband try to start the tractor and I was sitting in the backhoe. Well I had this huge cold sore on my lip and I just happened to look down and see a can of starting fluid sitting there. I grabbed it and gave my lips a shot. Just then my husband came running over screaming "What are you doing?" I casually said "spraying this on my cold sore." "You could die" he yells. Well needless to say I had to promise never to do that again. But let me tell you the thought is still there every time I get a cold sore.
